Before joining Muneeza Sheikh Employment & Human Rights, she worked at a reputable criminal defence firm in Downtown Toronto.
In her practice, Hania was exposed to a variety of criminal and regulatory cases, where she effectively represented clients in court, and where appropriate, worked to obtain for them the resolution they needed.
Hania completed her J.D. at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law (Toronto Metropolitan University) in 2023. During law school, Hania volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and in her final year, served as the Vice-President of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Law Students’ Society. She was also a member of the South Asian Law Students’ Society and Muslim Law Students’ Society.
In law school, Hania completed the Integrated Practice Curriculum (IPC) program. She spent her 2L summer and 3L placement at the Community Justice Collective, where she focused on criminal, Indigenous, Human Rights, and labour law.
Hania graduated with high distinction from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) where she majored in Women and Gender Studies with minors in Sociology and Critical Migration Studies. She also holds a Master of Arts from York University in Gender, Feminist and Women’s Studies. Through her academic background in Women and Gender Studies, Hania developed an intersectional feminist perspective and actively works to combat systemic racism and sexism in her personal and professional life.
